About The Position

PsyPhyCare, a division of Business Staffing of America, Inc., is seeking to contract with a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) to provide on-site substance abuse prevention and counseling services for a federally supported residential youth program located in Oneonta, New York (13820). Our client operates a structured residential training program serving youth ages 16 through 24, with a mission to support personal development, educational achievement, and successful entry into the workforce. This position provides direct, on-site prevention education, counseling, and case management services to students within a residential and academic environment. This is a contract position with full-time availability at 40 hours per week, scheduled within the normal workweek. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This role is on-site only; telehealth or remote work is not available. The schedule follows standard center operating hours and may include coordination with program staff to support student engagement and prevention initiatives. Location: On-site, Oneonta, NY

Requirements

  • Candidates must hold a current and valid Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) certification in the State of New York.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in substance abuse counseling, prevention, or a related behavioral health field is required.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and electronic documentation systems is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with adolescents or young adults in structured environments is preferred, including: Schools or educational programs Residential or youth development programs Community behavioral health settings Workforce development or social service programs
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The counselor will develop, coordinate, and facilitate the Center’s alcohol, drug, and tobacco prevention and education programs while providing individual and group counseling services to enrolled students.
  • The role includes supporting students in developing healthy coping skills, making informed decisions, and maintaining successful participation in the residential program.
  • Responsibilities include creating individualized case management plans designed to improve student retention, reduce drug-related separations, and promote overall wellness and program success.
  • The counselor will collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to address student needs, provide education and support, and contribute to a safe and supportive campus environment.
  • The counselor is expected to maintain accurate documentation, protect confidential information, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable federal and state regulations.
