About The Position

If you are looking for a meaningful career working as part of a multi-disciplinary team that impacts lives, please consider the Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor position at the Julian F Keith Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center (JFKADATC) in Black Mountain. The Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor is primarily responsible for provision of assessments, case management, discharge planning, crisis intervention, individual therapy, and group therapy for ADATC patients on the Acute Care Unit and in Acute Recovery Services.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) or as a Clinical Supervisor Intern (CSI) from a governing authority recognized by the NC Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board to practice under the provisions of the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Act.
  • Management will consider a LCASA (trainee) if no fully qualified applicants apply.
  • Minimum Education and Experience Requirements for Trainee Appointment - Master's degree from an appropriately accredited school.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented experience building and developing rapport with persons and families, evaluating a patient's risk of dangerousness, and applying appropriate interventions based on a thorough assessment and treatment plan.
  • Facilitation/Collaboration in the development and implementation of patient centered treatment/care plans within a multi-disciplinary team. Documented experience working with other disciplines and/or agencies.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with community agencies and work independently, be self-motivated and organized.
  • Must be able to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively
  • Training in motivational interviewing and trauma informed care.
  • Experience working with substance use disorders and/or psychiatric disorders.
