About The Position

The position requires investigation, determines liability and damages for Commercial Auto claims. Prepares demands and pursues Commercial Auto damages against responsible third parties. Requires moderate supervision. The Subrogation Adjuster is responsible for the investigation and evaluation of damage primarily involving Semi Tractor Trailers. Prepares and negotiates settlement of assigned first and third-party recovery claims. The claims involve complex recovery of primarily pre-litigated property and casualty damages. The Subrogation Adjuster assists and coordinates the recovery of damages with assigned legal counsel. Exercises proper judgment and decision-making evaluating liability against responsible third parties. The review and evaluation of damages to develop strategies and course of action to leverage maximum recovery of damages. Interaction extensively, with internal and external parties, including legal counsel, to support and provide documentation for the recovery of damages. Handles claims consistent with clients' and corporate policies, procedures and "best practices" and in accordance with any statutory, regulatory and ethical requirements. Documents and communicates all claim activity timely and effectively and in a manner which supports the outcome of the claim file. Ability to interact with multiple parties at the same time. Conflict Resolution Handling urgent situations in a professional manner. Multi-tasking. Adaptable in a flexible environment

Requirements

  • Ability to work with office equipment, utilize computers for majority of tasks and must be familiar with Microsoft Office suite of programs and automotive estimating programs.
  • Capable of hearing, with or without correction, sufficiently to perceive normal speaking levels and receive detailed information through oral communication to facilitate meetings and work with internal customers and stakeholders by telephone and in person.
  • Position may involve kneeling, stooping, bending, pushing, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 25 pounds.
  • Capable of working extended hours, to include weekends, holidays and various shifts (to include evening and night shifts) as necessary.
  • Capable of sitting at a desk for extended periods of time and working with computer equipment
  • Capable of speaking, writing, and reading English well and possessing a good command of the language so that various types of communications may be conducted in English with people of various levels of education and capabilities.
  • Capable of visual acuity, with or without correction, sufficient to prepare and analyze data and figures, view a computer terminal, and read extensively.
  • 4-year degree in a specified field or business-related field and commensurate work-related experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience adjusting and using estimating programs for automobile or heavy equipment damage.
  • Broad understanding of transportation processes and standards
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
  • The ability to adapt to a changing environment.

  • Transportation industry experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiency with commercial auto estimating programs procedures.
  • Keep company leadership informed of high value claims, respond timely to any issues that may require their attention.
  • Assist in the identification and investigation of subrogation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with accident investigators, claims adjusters, and others to gather necessary documentation and information.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of subrogation cases, including correspondence, communications, and updates.
  • Conduct the negotiation process with responsible parties to facilitate the recovery of funds.
  • Prepare and submit subrogation claims to insurance carriers and responsible third parties.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, external parties, and legal representatives involved in the subrogation process.
  • Monitor and track the progress of subrogation cases, providing regular updates to the subrogation team.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and analysis related to subrogation recovery efforts.
  • Work within the department and other department leaders to establish goals, align priorities with overall corporate goals.
  • Practice and observe safety rules and regulations and encourage others to always do so.
