About The Position

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a U.S. citizen AND having an active Top Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance to be considered. The Subject Matter Expert (SME), Senior Advisor, provides high-level strategic and technical expertise to the Countermeasures Directorate and/or its subordinate offices within the U.S. Department of State. This role supports global security initiatives by offering policy guidance, advising on technical and physical security programs, overseeing budget/resource planning, and advancing innovation in protective systems. The SME operates as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and is responsible for developing actionable strategies for technology integration and operational improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in physical or technical security program development or implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in presenting complex information to senior government personnel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in fast-paced environments with minimal supervision.
  • Experience managing large-scale projects, including cost and schedule performance.
  • Must pass the pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior-level advisor to the Countermeasures Directorate, contributing to the formulation of policy, budget planning, and resource management.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in physical or technical security programs, with guidance equivalent to that expected at the Senior Executive Service level.
  • Lead program development for technical investigations and applied research in vehicle systems and protective armor integration.
  • Evaluate and recommend lightweight and high-performance alternatives to current armor systems.
  • Analyze existing security and operational practices to identify areas for improvement and develop transformation plans.
  • Oversee cost, schedule, and performance metrics for major projects, ensuring alignment with mission objectives.
  • Deliver technical and programmatic advice independently and provide concise, senior-level reporting.
  • Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
