As an intern you will be given similar responsibilities as a full-time member of the Procurement team. This will provide you with the opportunity for challenging work assignments in a supportive work environment which promotes your personal and professional growth. We are seeking a full-time Intern for our Houston office located in Katy, Tx to join our team for a duration of 10 consecutive weeks from June to August.

Requirements

  • May hold or be working towards an associate or bachelor’s degree (preferably in related field).
  • 18 years of age or older and able to work in Houston, TX, full time.
  • Employment with PCL is contingent upon passing a background check and substance abuse test conducted by a third party.

  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to tackle new projects and ideas, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Basic skills using Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge and/or experience withaccounting software an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze changing client/market conditions - gather information for benchmarking
  • Support client specific category strategy
  • Perform detailed analysis of spend and other data to identify savings, define efficiency opportunities, and tactical and strategic initiatives that should be undertaken
  • Assist with the identification of appropriate potential suppliers to fit clients’ business objectives
  • Assist with the tracking and reporting of supplier performance and resolution of supplier performance issues
  • Assist with pre-award subcontracts activities, subcontractor pre-qualification, interface with engineering/construction, project, and client personnel to support preparation of RFP
  • Assist with bid evaluation and negotiations up to award and subcontract execution specifically related to lump sum turnkey, EPC contract for major process units
  • Assist in project start-up activities and provide support to Project Engineer, Project Superintendent, and/or Project Manager.
  • Assist in preparation and distribution of information as directed for contract requirements to appropriate parties.
  • Attend project site visits to observe and document construction field activities.
  • Assist in preparation of and conduct correspondence and communication as directed to Engineers, vendors, and subcontractors
