The Sub Fabrication Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for overseeing sub-fabricators quality programs to assure best quality product will be fabricated to the job specifications and Cooper Steel’s standards. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Promote a strong quality culture throughout the company maintaining Cooper Steel’s core priorities: Safety, Quality, Production. Collaborate with sub-fabricators to prevent and resolve quality issues and promote continuous improvement. Visit sub-fabrication shops to monitor and verify adherence to AISC and/or company quality standards. Audit sub-fabricators’ quality documentation, including inspection reports, NDT records, welder qualifications, and MTRs, with stricter processes for non-AISC-certified companies. Confirm that sub-fabricators maintain accurate material traceability and current certifications. Identify nonconformances, document findings, and assist with corrective actions. Maintain records on sub-fabricators in accordance with company procedures. Review the company’s Approved Sub-Fabricator List based on performance and compliance, including NCR tracking. Communicate inspection results and concerns to the QA Manager and project teams promptly and professionally. Work with minimal supervision to complete tasks assigned. Provide evaluations and recommendations on performance of systems and operations. Stay current with relevant AISC, AWS, and ASTM standards. Other duties as assigned.
