About The Position

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements: Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters. Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN). Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable. A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester. Federal Work Study student may apply. Maintain Berklee's studios and production facilities by repairing and installing audio gear. Interface with studio staff to resolve issues on the WTD Problem Log. Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Assist with large-scale installations for new and updated rooms. As a Technical Maintenance Student Assistant, you are responsible for maintaining the day-to-day equipment for the Academic Affairs Technical Office. Student employees are expected to repair cables, headphones, and various equipment. You will also interface with the Studio Operations, Lab Operations, and Equipment Room staff to verify and resolve problems on the WTD Problem Log. Student employees are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized space in the Tech Shop, including taking out trash, sweeping, and cleaning work surfaces. You will also assist with large-scale installations in new and updated rooms, which may involve furniture assembly, cable runs, and gear installation. A good Technical Maintenance Student Assistant is organized, attentive, and not afraid to work under pressure. Positive attitude and understanding interpersonal skills are required. You must be able to learn quickly, follow directions precisely, and remain composed in frustrating situations. Lifting up to 50 lbs., crawling in enclosed spaces, and walking up to 3 miles are daily requirements, so physical fitness is a must. Prior knowledge of Berklee's audio gear, soldering techniques, and general audio technology concepts preferred, but not required. Availability during Berklee's tech hours (1PM-2PM Monday-Thursday when available, 9AM-5PM every Friday) is strongly preferred. Availability to work semester breaks is a plus.
