About The Position

The Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) is made up of every undergraduate student at the University of Nevada. ASUN provides a means for students to voice concerns and address issues at the university, local, state, national, and international levels. The duties of the Director of Campus Wellness are as follows: To focus on increasing the visibility of the Association in the greater campus, local, state, and national communities. Develop relationships with and meet regularly with leaders from mental and physical health-related student organizations. Develop a working relationship with the Director of the EL Wiegand Fitness Center, the Administrative Assistant of the Counseling Center, and the Health Promotion Program Coordinator of the Student Health Center. Serve on university committees and task forces relating to mental and physical health, including but not limited to, the Student Wellness Advisory Group. Program a Health Week highlighting mental and physical health issues and resources in coordination with the Division of Health Science Senators. Execute any initiatives assigned by the President relevant to the mission of the Director of Campus Wellness, including but not limited to, It’s On Us, Green Dot Training, and Pack Fit Convey to the Senate of the Associated Students information and data related to mental and physical health issues concerning university students and new initiatives Convey to the Senate of the Associated Students information and data related to mental and physical health issues concerning university students and new initiatives Provide a written report to the Senate showing the usage of the Counseling Center fee, Health Center fee, EL Wiegand Fitness Center fee, and the usage by students of these resources Have a report read or spoken into the record at minimum every other Senate meeting

Requirements

  • Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Maintain a 2.00 GPA and be enrolled in at least 7 credits
  • Perform all duties and instructions outlined by the ASUN Governing Documents
  • Uphold the Nevada Student Code of Conduct
  • Meet all deadlines set forth, attend all required meetings and training, work scheduled hours, properly complete and submit HR paperwork on time, assist in the promotion of the mission of ASUN and Nevada, behave in a manner that is ethical, maintain a high level of integrity
  • Other duties as called upon by my position
  • I understand if I do not adhere to the items outlined in this agreement or what is stated in the ASUN Governing Documents, my position may be subject to disciplinary action by the ASUN Judicial Council and/or the University of Nevada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fields related to public health, psychology, counseling, social work, or related health sciences field through course of study, previous work experience, or extracurricular activities
  • Previous management, mentorship, or leadership experience with peers
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement wellness initiatives or programs, including planning, promotion, and evaluation
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and current trends in wellness promotion and mental health
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in wellness programming and support services
  • Motivation to further the goals and initiatives of ASUN: Collaborating with the Center for Student Engagement and other campus departments to increase students’ access to basic needs and awareness of services
  • Working to coordinate student advisory boards such as those relating to affordable housing and power-based violence
  • Connecting students to mental health resources on campus and in the community
  • Understanding perceptions of campus safety to address student needs
  • Advocating to expand student access to fentanyl testing strips and naloxone on campus
  • Excellent organization and project management skills in a team-based environment with multiple projects
  • Flexibility and adaptability within role; ability to time manage and prioritize tasks
  • Willingness to mentor an intern during the fall and spring semester
