The Student Wellbeing Specialist provides immediate support and case management for students facing complex mental health challenges. This role acts as a key resource for faculty, staff, and counsellors, ensuring timely referrals, safety assessments, and ongoing follow-up. As the first point of contact for at-risk students and concerned staff, the Specialist conducts rapid mental status evaluations and manages crises with expertise. This position supports daily drop-ins and referrals, collaborating with Counselling Services as a step-down service for wellness checks and follow-ups. Using a solution-focused, stepped-care approach, the Specialist helps students set goals and navigate barriers to academic success. The role also coordinates with internal services like Counselling, Accessibility, Medical Centre, Student Conduct, The Learning Centre, Student Life, and Security, as well as external community resources. This role will involve regular travel between the Newnham Campus and North York General Hospital, with occasional rotation to other campuses.
