About The Position

We are looking for Per Diem Education Counselors (Substitutes) Ivy Street School | Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm | $21.63/hour If you’re someone who wants your work to matter—and you don’t mind getting involved, being patient, and showing up consistently—this might be the role for you. Ivy Street School is a small, year-round, residential special education school for neurodiverse students ages 13–22. Our students are bright, complex, funny, challenging, and growing every day. We’re looking for Education Counselors who want to be part of that growth and are comfortable working in a hands-on, team-based environment. What your day actually looks like No two days are the same, but you can expect to: Be in the classroom supporting students alongside Special Education Teachers Work one-on-one or in small groups to help students stay engaged and meet their IEP goals Help students regulate, problem-solve, and build social and life skills—not just academics Use trauma-informed and positive behavior strategies (we’ll train you) Support group activities, electives, and community outings Pitch in with morning routines or residential programming when needed Communicate with teachers, clinicians, and nursing staff to keep students supported Complete basic notes and attend team meetings so everyone stays on the same page This role is a good fit if you: Are patient, steady, and able to stay calm in unpredictable moments Like building relationships and being a consistent adult presence Are comfortable setting boundaries while being compassionate Enjoy working as part of a close, collaborative team Want experience in special education, mental health, psychology, social work, or human services Why Ivy Street School $21.63/hour, full-time, stable weekday schedule Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:30pm (no late nights) Flexible scheduling, must work 3 shifts a month Strong training, mentorship, and support—you’re not thrown in alone A mission-driven environment where your work has visible impact Part of MAB Community Services, a respected nonprofit organization If you’re looking for a role where you can connect with students, grow professionally, and make a real difference during the school day—this is it.
