About The Position

Harrisburg is located in the Mid-Willamette Valley between Eugene and Corvallis. No experience needed! Harrisburg will provide training! POSTING DATE: March 16, 2026 POSITION: Student Support Assistant, Harrisburg Elementary School 161 contract days per year; Harrisburg operates on a 4-day school week, M-TH with some Fridays; paid CPI training provided. Applicants who prefer a part-time schedule are also encouraged to apply. The work calendar will be prorated for the remainder of the school year.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Educational assistants for Special Ed may be required to have knowledge of ADHD, autism, anger and behavior management, and physical health needs in children.
  • Basic computer and office machine skills.
  • Ability to assist the teacher with behavior management
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in one-on-one and small group situations to students and other school staff.
  • Ability to verbally respond to common inquiries from students.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule, or diagram form.
  • Ability to work well with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • Focused on solving conflict, maintaining confidentiality, listening to others, keeping emotions under control, and contributing to building a positive team spirit.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students successfully.
