About The Position

As part of Pine Technical and Community College’s commitment to student success and ongoing institutional effectiveness, this position provides academic and financial aid advising for a case load of PSEO (Postsecondary Enrollment Option) and undergraduate students. Advising responsibilities emphasize a holistic approach to help students understand academic requirements, navigating financial aid processes, and making informed decisions that support their educational goals. In addition, this position coordinates student government, student clubs and career services to support student engagement, leadership development, experiential learning, and career readiness. These responsibilities support students in connecting campus involvement and career preparation to their educational and professional goals. Through integrated delivery of advising, student leadership and engagement, and career support services, this position contributes to a comprehensive student support framework that advances student persistence, retention, and completion.

Requirements

  • Two years of professional-level experience working with and interpreting policies and procedures that facilitate student support and success at all stages of their educational journey.
  • Demonstrated independent decision-making skills along with the ability to communicate and collaborate with others to successfully meet project and/or campus goals.
  • Experience coordinating events or programs such as career, club or networking fairs from planning through evaluation.
  • Working knowledge of career development concepts such as reume and cover letter best practices, job and internship search strategies, interview preparations, and employer engagement
  • Proficiency with a variety of word processing, databases, and web-based applications sufficient to accurately collect data and create reports efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse internal audiences as well as external partners through clear written, verbal, and interpersonal communication to support collaborations, problem-solving and program goals.
  • Work experience that demonstrates an ability to complete job duties with minimal direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (or Bachelor’s degree in progress) in Counseling, Student Development/Affairs, Residence Life, Outdoor Leadership, Psychology, Business, Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Work, Education, Sociology, or a similar discipline.
  • Three or more years of experience within higher education student services, preferably in the Minnesota State College and Universities system.
  • Extensive knowledge of college courses and programs including an understanding of course descriptions, syllabi, and other academic resources including financial aid.
  • Experience with a student record system such as ISRS; as well as other data and communication tools.
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulatory laws such as the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the MN Governmental Data Privacy Act (MGDPA).
  • Ability to speak another language in addition to English
  • Valid driver’s license to conform to Minnesota State vehicle use crieria and consent to a mor vehicle records check.to
