The Student Success Advisor is responsible for the delivery of intentional and meaningful services to include workshops, advising, and coaching to encourage undergraduate student retention and progression. This role promotes a culture of student success for specialized populations and is a proactive resource for addressing academic, engagement and general support needs of students. Serve as direct support to students in the SSS-Teacher Prep Program in the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE). Plan, implement and conduct workshops, presentations & programs to educate and inform students, about student success factors, competencies and behaviors. Advise/counsel students individually or in groups regarding various types of success strategies, engagement/ enrichment opportunities, campus/ community resources. Provide accurate data collection for student engagement in services offered by department. Completes all corresponding administrative tasks associated with the position. Takes a proactive approach to supporting students, seeking out contact with students to provide services. Maintains, records, and reports contact with assigned students. Coordinates with colleagues in the department and key partners outside of the department, e.g. academic advisors, college life coaches, financial aid counselors, etc. to meet needs of students. Monitor student progression to support timely graduation and preparation for post-graduation success. Assists in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships throughout the University to attain departmental goals and objectives. Provides support with department sponsored events, special projects, research, and other assignments. Participates in student success or enrichment outreach and programming instituted by the department or its divisions, Undergraduate Studies and Student Affairs. Serve on departmental committees or as a liaison between the department and other divisional workgroups or committees. Engages in other related duties as assigned. Assist with the recruitment, training, and supervision of student staff who support programmatic and outreach efforts within the assigned program or initiative. Participates in ongoing training opportunities at FSU and through national or regional associations to enhance the knowledge and skills necessary for the role of Student Success Advisor. The advisor continuously works to improve student progress monitoring, retention, and student development by identifying key areas for growth and actively engaging in professional development.
