About The Position

The Student Program Coordinator is responsible for operational oversight and successful implementation of all activities related to the recruitment and yield of new students through pathways such as the UTNY and UTLA Pathways Programs, and serves as a important part of the recruitment, admission, and yield activities for all prospective students and families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years' experience working with high school and/or college students in a counseling or advising capacity
  • Experience managing student programs, events and high-touch experiences
  • Demonstrated professional behavior in the workplace
  • High energy, team player with strong, dynamic written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with all levels of constituents: students, families, faculty, and other staff members
  • Ability to work independently and in teams with overlapping projects
  • Strong working knowledge/experience working with standard applications in the Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.
  • Familiarity with video and web conferencing software such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree and two (2) years of experience in higher education, college student personnel, or communications.
  • Experience working with high school and/or college-aged students
  • Experience supervising students and/or volunteers
  • Knowledge of the prospective undergraduate student admissions processes at UT Austin
  • Able to work in a multi-faceted environment with tightly scheduled programs and deadlines
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Appreciation for and knowledge of majors in communications, experience with the University of Texas at Austin, and the Moody College of Communication

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the specialized, multi-step processes from interest, to application, to admission to yield, for prospective students and families, into a pathway program in the Moody College of Communication
  • Facilitate the onboarding of newly admitted pathways students and families from the point of admission through the first semester in their designated pathway program location.
  • Build and maintain high-touch relationships with prospective students and families by communicating all the requirements of pathways program participation, assisting with completion of all required steps to achieve participation and a high degree of customer service between admission and the start of their first semester, in locations such as the UTNY and UTLA Centers.
  • Conduct information sessions (in person and virtual), and tours on the Moody College pathways program experiences, participation and transition to the Austin campus in the succeeding semester.
  • Conduct individual and small group prospective student and family visits outside of scheduled information sessions for high-target recruits.
  • Interface with the Office of the President, Texas Development, Athletics, and others to facilitate sessions.
  • Drive UT vehicle, including Moody golf cart, to facilitate VIP visitor experience.
  • Fully participate in events hosted by the Office of Admissions to support recruitment, outreach and yield efforts related to admission.
  • Work towards advancing the goals of the Office of Admissions, with emphasis on Moody College.
  • Significant travel on behalf of Moody College and the Office of Admissions to selected recruiting, admissions, and yield events.
  • Assist with supervision and leadership development of student ambassadors and peer leaders in Moody College.
  • Coordinate recruitment and selection of students, facilitate training and skill-building, and collaborate with the Assistant Director to produce peer leaders who can deliver in-person and virtual information sessions, Moody College tours, tours at UTNY and UTLA locations, and other coordinated visits and experiences in Moody College.
  • Serve as an active, positive and engaged member of the Moody College staff; develop and manage assigned office procedures, paperwork, ensuring data integrity; provide assessment support for assigned programs; assist with special projects as assigned by leadership.
