About The Position

The Student Photographer will work within Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) to capture and publish photographs for various ASI publications and projects. This includes documenting events, performing basic to complex shoots, contributing to communication or multimedia projects, and contributing to annual reports, corporate campaigns, and departmental initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for photography, proficiency in graphic design software, and the ability to work flexibly within a team environment.

Requirements

Minimum of 1-2 years of photography experience.
Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and MAC systems.
Concurrent enrollment in six or more units at CSULB.
CA Driver’s License
ABILITY TO WORK WITHIN A TEAM ENVIRONMENT.
ABILITY TO BE SELF-DIRECTED WITH MINIMAL SUPERVISION.
ABILITY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND PROCEDURE MANUALS, INSTRUCTIONS, DIAGRAMS, ETC.
ABILITY TO TRAVEL TO EVENTS THAT ARE OFF CAMPUS.
ABILITY TO BE FLEXIBLE WITH SCHEDULE, ABLE TO COVER EVENTS DURING EVENINGS AND OCCASIONALLY WEEKENDS.
Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week with the flexibility to cover up to 20 hours per week as needed.
Must be available to work evenings and some weekends as needed during the academic year.
Must be available to work during the winter & summer breaks.

Responsibilities

Capture high-quality photographs for ASI publications, including events, design projects, and campaigns, ensuring visual consistency and brand adherence.
Initiate new photoshoots or projects to capture campus life and student activity. Plan and coordinate photoshoots, recruit and direct models.
Obtain, set up, and test photography equipment, including cameras, lighting, and backdrops, ensuring optimal functionality for photo shoots. Transport equipment as needed to event set-ups throughout campus and off-campus events.
Assist in prop and set production, as well as set-up, to create dynamic and visually engaging photo environments.
Attend events and other designated subjects to photograph moments and activities, providing comprehensive event coverage. Have the ability to communicate to a large group of people or individuals for staged shots.
Ability to represent ASI at both off campus and campus-wide events in a professional manner while taking photos. Some travel is required locally for events.
Develop film and/or digital still photography, and process images using editing software (Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop) to enhance visual appeal and quality.
Maintain organized files of visual materials, including photographs and graphic assets, for easy access and retrieval.
Contribute photography work during the preproduction and production phases of communication or multimedia projects, collaborating closely with team members to achieve project goals.
Ensure that photography seamlessly integrates with other visual and multimedia elements, enhancing the overall effectiveness of ASI's communication efforts.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in working on basic shoots independently or assisting in more complex shoots as part of a collaborative team effort. On occasion other duties may be assigned within ASI Communications including participating in information tables, and/or events.
