This program delivers a hands-on learning approach to facilitate and support the professional development of current Nursing Students. Once admitted, the SNA will provide patient care under the direct supervision of an experienced and licensed RN. The Student Nurse Assistant (S.N.A.) works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide care for patients/families with acute and chronic diseases, disorders found in the pediatric and adolescent into the young adult populations. Actively supports the Hospital’s and the department’s quality goals and service excellence principles.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program and/or graduate of an accredited nursing program within the past six months.
  • Completion of Nursing fundamentals course and first clinical rotation required .
  • Must currently be in and maintain good academic standing in program.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Must be able to safely immobilize children, if necessary, and be able to move equipment and patients; respond quickly to patient care situations; effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians, and patient care staff, and meet professional image and communication standards.
