About The Position

The Real Estate and Community Development Intern will support the Real Estate Department by assisting with urban planning, research, project coordination, and community engagement activities. This internship provides hands on exposure to real estate development, affordable housing, and the role community development organizations play in strengthening neighborhoods. The Martindale-Brightwood Community Development Corporation (MBCDC) is a nonprofit organization working to strengthen the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood in Indianapolis through housing development, small business development, workforce development, home preservation, and resident-focused programs.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree at Butler University in Economics, Finance, Political Science, Communications, Public Affairs, Business, or with an interest in development, community engagement, or real estate.
  • No prior experience required. Students with a strong interest in housing, real estate development, Community planning, or neighborhood revitalization are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research and project support related to housing development, property rehabilitation, and neighborhood revitalization initiatives.
  • Support coordination of real estate projects by helping track progress, organize project materials, and document construction updates and site visits.
  • Assist with community engagement and program activities, including events, workshops, and initiatives that support neighborhood development and homeownership opportunities.
