About The Position

Our mission is to prepare students to win with integrity-in academics, in athletics and in life. Texas Athletics is looking for passionate and eager-to-learn student managers to serve with the Women’s Rowing program. Designed for students interested in a career in intercollegiate athletics, student managers will assist in all aspects of team operations, including office management, internal department relations, recruiting processes, maintaining sports inventory and being introduced to the various systems used in daily operations. Student managers will also have opportunities to work closely with the Rigger/Boatman to assist with the management of boat equipment and learn about the logistical aspects of the rowing program to expand their knowledge of the sport and industry. Student managers will report to the Director of Operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Demonstrate strong interest and passion for Texas Athletics
  • Must be a current undergraduate student at The University of Texas at Austin enrolled in at least 12 class hours each semester (NCAA Requirement)
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a degree or career in a sports-related field
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License that is not currently suspended or revoked and maintains an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience in the sport of rowing

Responsibilities

  • Support the Rowing Staff with daily operations of practice, including set-up of coaching launches and equipment maintenance.
  • Learn the importance of proper equipment maintenance and safety procedures as applicable to the sport of rowing.
  • Assist with processing of laundry and distributing of Nike equipment and apparel to team and staff.
  • Manage stocking of various nutrition stations and maintaining inventory of stock.
  • Gain industry knowledge of sports inventory management systems to maintain organization and inventory control of equipment and apparel while adhering to financial budgets.
  • Support Director of Operations with Rowing Office tasks, to include administrative help with expense report systems, stocking of office supplies, maintenance of office and team lounge areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program.
  • Actively participate in assigned education and training programs.
  • Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws.
  • Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income.
  • Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR.
  • Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation.
  • In compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and Texas Education Code Sec. 51.252, this position may be a Non-Confidential Employee as defined by University policies on Sex Discrimination, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Interpersonal Violence and Stalking. As a Non-Confidential Employee, individuals employed in this position will report incidents of such prohibited conduct to the University’s Title IX Coordinator or Deputy Title IX Coordinator as required by applicable law or University policy.
