Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is looking for a Student Intern to provide support to an assigned department, which may include providing health education, patient engagement, clerical support, event support, or other assigned duties. Participates in, and supports, the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of services in accordance with contractual and departmental requirements and guidelines. Specific assignments vary depending on program, grant, and patient demographics, with a focus on providing community-based healthcare services to the medically underserved.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be full-time students at a local high school, vocational program, job readiness program, or an accredited college or university with at least a 2.0 semester/quarter grade point average (GPA).
  • Pursuing a degree or have completed a program from an accredited university within the last year.
  • Interest in FHCSD’s mission and vision
  • Must be from an approved affiliated program
  • Must meet organizational medical and background clearance requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural and economic groups.
  • Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain good working relationships with employees, coworkers, and departments.
  • Intermediate interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties as assigned based on department needs under direct supervision.
