About The Position

Are you a college student or a recent college graduate seeking an internship for the Spring 2026 semester? If so, continue reading to learn more about this exciting part time paid opportunity with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety (NC DPS). This is an Experiential Rotational Internship which offers students an opportunity to learn about Purchasing & Logistics in State Government. The NC DPS Rotational Internship Program period is from Monday, January 26, 2026 to Thursday, April 2, 2026 (10 weeks). The Purchasing and Logistic rotational internship experience provides a holistic understanding of the department. The student intern will gain hands on experience in sourcing and vendor management, contract administration and management, purchasing operations and cross functional experience to the six areas withing Purchasing and Logistics. Students will assist with the procurement process, which includes sourcing suppliers, preparing purchase orders, negotiating terms, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. Key responsibilities also include data analysis, reporting, resolving supply issues, and supporting senior procurement staff with various tasks, from market research to contract administration. Students will gain practical skills in areas like supplier management, order processing, and data analysis, while also building professional relationships and developing a better understanding of strategic sourcing and procurement. About Purchasing and Logistics: Purchasing and Logistics provides a comprehensive procurement of goods and/or services to the entire Department of Public Safety in six primary functional areas: Purchasing of Goods and Services; Real Property Lease Acquisitions; Fleet Management; Auxiliary Support Services, Law Enforcement Support Services; and DNA Evidence Collection of Anonymous Sexual Assault Kits.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled in college or a recent college. Note: "Recent" graduates are those who have graduated within the last 6 months.
  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree (or a recent graduate) in one of the following fields: Business Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Logistics, or Purchasing
  • Must have a GPA of at least 2.5 (Please upload your unofficial transcript).
