About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) Summer Internship Program offers a paid, 9–10-week experience designed to provide students with meaningful, hands-on exposure to public service and state government operations. Interns will contribute to mission-critical projects across multiple divisions, gaining practical skills in areas such as human resources, finance, purchasing, IT, communications, education services, and compliance. This program is ideal for students pursuing degrees in criminal justice, public administration, business, accounting, healthcare, IT, engineering, social work, and related fields. Requirements

  • Must be a permanent North Carolina resident attending an accredited college, university, law school, community college, or technical institute in North Carolina (or a NC resident attending an equivalent institution out of state).
  • Community college students must have completed their first year completed before beginning the internship.
  • Applicants must be continuing their education in the fall following their participation in the program.
  • To qualify for a law internship, applicants must have completed at least one year of law school before the beginning of the internship, unless other majors are listed.
  • Students having previously held paid internships with this program are not eligible to apply- subject to exception approval.
  • Must be a junior or senior (associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s level) with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
  • Must be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2026
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide proof of identity and work authorization within three business days of employment.
