The University Honors Program under the Senior Vice President and Provost at Iowa State University is seeking a Student Engagement Specialist. This position provides individualized student mentoring and coaching to help students navigate their University Honors Program curriculum requirements and develop and implement extra and co-curricular programming. The University Honors Program brings together some of Iowa State University's brightest and most motivated students to take advantage of both intellectual and social opportunities. Honors scholars gain early exposure to research and leadership as well as benefit from creating an individualized educational path adding breadth and depth to their academic experience. The primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: using the EAB Navigate software platform to create outreach campaigns to Honors students conducting individual and small group academic coaching meetings with Honors students advising the Honors Student Board and First-Year Honors Program Peer Advisor Group developing and facilitating programming to support the Honors community. This position will also support the recruitment of first-year, current, and transfer students into the University Honors Program. In collaboration with the Assistant Director of the University Honors Program, this position will be responsible for the management of the First-Year Honors Program Learning Community, which includes facilitating summer Orientation; coordinating the first-year honors seminar; and co-teaching the second-year leadership class. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, possess good time management skills, exhibit the ability to work independently with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn, and have experience fostering community within an ungraduated program. The incumbent will need strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively via multiple modalities to a variety of groups including undergraduates, campus partners, and members of the Honors Program team. This position requires a flexible schedule as some nights and weekends will be necessary. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
