About The Position

Accountability Reports to the University Dining Assistant Manager for Employment and the University Dining Director. Works collaboratively with the University Dining Payroll Coordinator and the Training and Development Coordinator and supervises the Student Managers’ and student employees’ compliance with the University Dining student employment program policies and procedures. The Student Employment Program Manager is responsible for developing, overseeing, reevaluating, and promoting the University Dining student employment program, which employs approximately 200+ student employees each year. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy. The University Dining Student Employment Program Manager works directly with full-time and student staff supervisors on all human resource matters.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 2 semesters remaining at UWSP and be able to work 20 hours/week during the academic year and must be available to work during summer and winter breaks (up to 40 hours/week).
  • Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Suite (particular Excel).
  • Must be able to work with limited supervision, demonstrate problem-solving skills, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • All applicants must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher).
  • Applicants must pass a criminal background check (only criminal activity directly pertaining to the position description will be evaluated.)
  • Successful applicants must pass all UWSP mandatory trainings as part of their employment onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Assist department Student Managers and full-time supervisory staff with student employee staffing, evaluation, and discipline process.
  • Form, revise, and interpret University Dining student employment policies and procedures in conjunction with their supervisor and the University Dining Director.
  • Post, monitor, update and close job postings on Workday and the University Dining employment website and application.
  • As needed, assist Payroll Coordinator with hiring students in Workday
  • Maintain personnel files for current and past student employees.
  • Update and keep records of all student employee position descriptions.
  • Coordinate monthly Student Supervisory Staff meetings during the academic year and semesterly Student Supervisory Staff orientation training sessions.
  • Coordinate, compile, and then send the results of the University Dining online feedback information to the Director once a semester.
  • Prepare, set-up, and attend on-campus recruitment events: CASE job fairs (1-2 per semester), Academic Career and Advising Center Internship fairs, summer STAR orientation days, Viewpoint Days, Admitted Student Days, and Welcome Week activities to increase student employee recruitment and educate about the University Dining employment program.
  • Plan the University Dining student employment calendar with the Payroll Coordinator and the Training and Development Coordinator; email the completed calendar to the Student Managers and full-time staff.
  • Revise and update the University Dining Employment website information throughout the academic year and summer session.
  • Serve as the University Dining Payroll Coordinator and/or University Dining Training and Development Coordinator during breaks and assist these positions, as needed, during the academic year.
  • Gauge employee morale, address employment issues, and recognize positive performance and student needs.
  • Be accountable and abide to the policies outlined in the University Dining Student Employment Handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned.
