Student Deployment Assistant
About The Position
At Technology Resources (TRecs), the goal is to provide clients with information technology that enables units to better serve the campus by offering secure, reliable, and responsive IT systems, solutions, and support. The TRecs Depot program is designed to repurpose computers across campus, offering departments a cost-effective solution for supplying computer equipment to students, interns, and staff. Student employees are crucial to the process of evaluating, repairing, refurbishing, and reimaging used devices for reuse, thereby promoting a green circular economy for the campus. This position is open exclusively to The University of Texas at Austin students.
Requirements
- Must be a current University of Texas at Austin student.
- Moderate experience dealing with computer hardware and systems.
- Attention to detail in following a process and documenting inventory
- Dependability in attendance
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Nice To Haves
- CS or related major
- Advanced experience dealing with computer hardware and systems
Responsibilities
- Evaluate devices for functionality and overall condition.
- Identify and execute repairs to hardware when possible.
- Clean and sanitize all surfaces and internal components.
- Prepare devices for deployments using standard imaging.
- Prepare devices that cannot be used in the Depot for Surplus and manage data security.
