The primary responsibility of the Student Data Support Technician is supporting the coordination and the primary responsibility of the Student Data Support Technician is monitoring and improving the quality of the District’s student information for analysis and submission to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), local and federal and state agencies and District leaders. This role also supports other department efforts through data validation and analysis, and regularly assists school staff with complex student information capture. Gains and disseminates knowledge of data requirements and best practices to schools and multiple departments. Develops and delivers training, and produces and shares written instructions and process documentation.

  • Lead and assist with immediate and ongoing efforts to verify, correct and complete student information in support of state, federal and internal reporting.
  • Develop tools and methods to efficiently analyze student data, monitor its quality and reveal any discrepancies.
  • Investigate the causes and contributing factors to student data errors and suggest practical approaches to reduce or eliminate them.
  • Assist in implementing process changes that promote the accuracy, completeness and consistency of student information.
  • Work with parents, staff, administrators and community agencies to address and resolve complex enrollment and other student data issues, in accordance with relevant statutes, Board policies and district procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver training and written guidance for district staff, as needed.
  • Support major department efforts, including Student Count, School Choice and state and federal reporting.
  • Assist in the delivery of other services provided by Student Records and Registration.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Student Enrollment and Reporting
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in with data or using spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets)
  • Employee must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and must be cleared by the Office of Human Resources
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
  • Knowledge of Windows-based computers, student information systems, electronic mail, spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of data analysis and creating detailed reports including charts and graphs
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws that apply to student information
  • Ability to work under high pressure with a multitude of on-going tasks and last-minute deadlines and changes with minimal errors
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and work effectively, using independent judgement to complete assignments and meet timelines
  • Ability to relate will with District staff and the public and to understand their requests and needs and to respond to such requests in a professional and timely manner
  • Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Ability to create and maintain a system for managing and maintaining large amounts of complex information
  • Excellent telephone skills/etiquette with a strong customer orientation toward staff, students, parents, outside agencies, and the community
  • Ability to establish and maintain a professional/effective working relationship with building staff, administrators, parents, students, city/county officials, and other community members
  • Possess an excellent work attitude and the ability and willingness to take ownership/responsibility for project completion; demonstrated ability to provide initiative in reaching organizational goals
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of assignments
  • Ability to coordinate daily activities and schedule with little supervision
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a variety of situations
  • Ability to remain calm under trying circumstances
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Excellent proofing skills; knowledge of English, proper grammar, style, syntax, spelling, and punctuation
  • Ability to create and deliver effective training and create helpful written instructions
  • College Degree from accredited college or university
  • Previous experience validating, analyzing, or summarizing complicated data
  • Previous experience in customer service
  • Previous experience working with student information
  • Previous experience with a student information system (e.g. Infinite Campus)
  • Spanish speaking skills
