About The Position

The Student Conduct Officer is responsible for adjudicating alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code. The Student Conduct Officer assists the Director with policy development, implementation, and evaluation of the College’s Student Rights and Responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College.
  • Skills in technological support and delivery of student programs and services; knowledge and skill in the use of integrated software systems; and proficiency in the use of Microsoft application software.
  • Experience Investigating, processing, and adjudicating student conduct and academic integrity violations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline.
  • Responds appropriately to issues in a dynamic, rapidly changing educational/economic environment
  • Experience working with student support programs (counseling, threat assessment, health & wellness programs, etc.).
  • Highly collaborative leader with experience in a comparable and complex college/university with a proven track record of enhancing quality, institutional excellence, and student success.
  • Demonstrated success working with diverse communities.
  • Excellent time management, and organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. Official transcripts required.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible leadership
  • Current and valid Texas driver’s license required.
  • Experience working with diverse student and staff populations.
  • Will be subject to a criminal background check.
  • Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.

Responsibilities

  • Student Conduct & Adjudication Investigate and adjudicate alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct, Academic Dishonesty, and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
  • Resolve cases related to academic dishonesty (e.g., plagiarism, cheating) by applying educational sanctions that promote student learning and accountability.
  • Conduct fair and timely investigations and administrative hearings.
  • Utilize a restorative mindset to address student conduct issues to help students understand the impact of their actions and repair harm.
  • Serve as a neutral party to investigate and mediate student complaints, offering guidance on available resources.
  • Campus Collaboration & Outreach Collaborate with faculty and staff to address student behavior concerns and provide guidance on the conduct process.
  • Educate students on their rights and responsibilities.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and presentations to the Dallas College community about the Student Rights and Responsibilities Office.
  • Serve as a member of the campus Care Team, providing insights and support on student-related behavioral concerns.
  • Administration & Policy Manage confidential student conduct cases and maintain detailed records in the student conduct database for reporting and analysis.
  • Assist with the development and improvement of student conduct policies and processes, ensuring they align with best practices and an equally focused mindset.
  • Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
