Assist with the sport and supervision of Football student-athletes; Assist with pre-participation physical examinations; Assist with pre-practice set up and post practice breakdown (medically); Properly document injuries of any injured student-athletes; Follow prescribed rehabilitation and treatment protocols of team physicians when providing health care for injured or sick athletes; Communicate effectively with athletic training staff regarding injured or sick athletes; Communicate with strength and conditioning coaches regarding the injured student-athletes strength and conditioning parameters and limitations associated with injury rehabilitation; Maintain First-Aid CPR and AED; Perform other duties as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities of First Responders: First Responders will follow the protocol outlined below and will be limited to the following responsibilities in the event of an injury: The first trained individual to arrive at the scene of an emergency or injury is to provide initial medical assistance Initiate immediate care and activate the established Emergency Action Procedures Provide basic first aid such as splinting, wound care, and ICE application when indicated Provide basic life support skills such as CPR, rescue breathing, airway obstruction techniques, and shock The student worker is NOT permitted to perform evaluation techniques, apply any therapeutic treatment modalities other than ICE, and apply any kind of therapeutic exercise protocol without the direct supervision of the Certified Athletic Trainer. The student worker will be required to read, understand, and comply with this policy prior to participation in any clinical and/or field experience.
