The Digital Accessibility Center works to ensure that UT class and other online materials are accessible, especially for disabled students, faculty, and staff with access needs. Purpose The Document Accessibility Student Associate position is responsible for providing course- and content-level remediation to learning materials. This includes adding features to course content such as alternative text/image descriptions, logical heading structure, and improved design/readability of documents. This provides a valuable service to the entire campus, especially for students that have accessibility needs to be able to participate and learn fully in their classes.

Requirements

  • Access to a modern computer and high-speed internet
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Attention to detail and able to work independently
  • Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with digital accessibility features
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word and PowerPoint (either Mac or PC versions)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro

Responsibilities

  • Work to make documents from professor requests accessible
  • Work to make whole courses accessible
  • Troubleshooting issues that come up while remediating documents
  • Communicating with other undergraduate as well as graduate student associates through messages and meetings
