About The Position

The Earth Observing Laboratory (EOL) is seeking a student assistant to provide clerical and administrative assistance to the EOL Director’s office. This part-time employee will interact with a wide variety of staff while supporting all of the administrative functions of the EOL Directorate as requested. The role is part of NSF NCAR| UCAR | UCP, an organization dedicated to conducting critical research and community outreach to solve complex Earth system science problems including climate change, air pollution, extreme weather, floods, drought, wildfires, and space weather, with the goal of improving human life and reducing economic loss. The position is located in Boulder, Colorado, at Foothills Lab 1.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in college, university or professional school.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) in a networked environment.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to multitask, switch priorities, be flexible, and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work 10-15 hours per week on a set schedule and more during school breaks.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Willingness to ask questions and seek clarification.
  • Ability to follow moderately complex procedures/practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general office support including record-keeping, photocopying, archiving, scheduling appointments and meeting rooms.
  • Prepare administrative forms and documents.
  • Arrange and reconcile official travel.
  • Sort and distribute mail.
  • Provide support of all administrative functions of the EOL Directorate as requested.
