About The Position

The State Water Resources Control Board's Division of Financial Assistance has an opening for a Student Assistant Engineering and Architectural Sciences in the Clean Water State Revolving Fund Program. The position is located at 1001 I Street, 16th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814 right in the heart of downtown next to light rail stations and other public transportation. Under the close supervision of a Senior Water Resource Control Engineer (Supervisory) and consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the State and Regional Board's Strategic Plan, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and provide timely responses to internal/external customers, follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal/external customer input when completing work assignments.?

Requirements

  • Candidates must possess essential personal qualifications including integrity, initiative, dependability, good judgment, the ability to work cooperatively with others, and the ability to perform the assigned duties of the class.
  • If the position requires driving, you must possess a current and valid driver's license.
  • RPA# 25-550-046 in the "Examination or Job Title(s)" section of the State application when submitting a hardcopy application.

  • Photocopies of Transcripts (unofficial are okay).
  • You are required to complete employment history on the application form (STD. 678), including work experience, dates, hours worked, contact names and phone numbers of supervisors on the state application.
  • Applicants who fail to submit a completed STD. 678 may be disqualified.
  • A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of candidate's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. It should be typed, no more than two (2) pages in length, using Arial size 12pt. font, and normal margins.
  • Describe your experience providing excellent customer service (include years of experience) and the steps you took to ensure your customer(s)' satisfaction.
  • One of the key responsibilities of this position is to support staff with project management tasks related to the planning, design, construction, and implementation of wastewater improvement projects. Have you participated in any projects involving water systems-such as wastewater, drinking water, or water recycling? If so, what tasks did you assist with?
  • What spreadsheet tools are you most comfortable using, and how have you used them in past projects?
  • Describe how do you handle situations with individuals who hold different perspectives that you?
  • Applications received without the SOQ addressed as stated may not be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Office and ArcGIS preferred.
  • Must have ability to enter, manage, and review data for accuracy.
  • Must have ability to learn and adapt to changing tasks and take direction.
