The Ohio State Bumble Bee Health and Genetics Lab, led by Dr. Jamie Strange, in the department of Entomology, seeks a student to assist with ongoing research projects investigating bumble bee nutrition, health and genetics. The individual will work with graduate students and a post-doctoral scholars to develop and test nutritional additive for bumble bee diets, detect and control bumble bee pathogens and parasites, and assist with field and lab-based research as directed. Specific duties include mixing diets for bees, feeding colonies, handling bumble bee colonies in the lab, collecting bees in field locations, beekeeping, collecting and recording data, and reporting results. The student will also work on general lab cleaning, organization, and other tasks necessary for lab operations.
