About The Position

The Student Accounts Specialist reports to the Bursar Service Desk Supervisor and services all Charis students as it pertains to their financial requirements and inquiries. This position provides students with a great experience by ensuring excellent, clear communication when assisting them with their academic and financial needs. The Student Accounts Specialist provides accurate student financial reports and works closely with the Charis Accounting Office. Schedule Availability Needed: 7:00am – 3:30pm Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays. Can be flexible to accommodate the Day School schedule.

Requirements

  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Must sign the Statement of Faith.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • Must be available for some rotating Saturdays.
  • Must pass all required checks.
  • 2+ years of Customer Service experience is required.
  • Knowledge of cashiering and cash handling procedures.
  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.
  • Proficient in basic math.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and use recordkeeping systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Highly detailed, analytical, accurate, and organized.
  • Must be able to exercise discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Nice To Haves

  • A Charis Bible College graduate is preferred.
  • 1+ years of cash handling, bookkeeping, or accounting experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience maintaining student records or records management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process payments for tuition, mission trips, and academic fees.
  • Professionally communicate with students face to face, over the phone, and through email.
  • Appropriately communicate with students about student account balances.
  • Maintain student financial records.
  • Advise students on discount eligibility.
  • Accurately count all monies received related to tuition, mission trips, and academic fees.
  • Process student refunds for tuition overpayments.
  • Monitor and respond to Bursar email inquiries promptly.
  • Daily reconciliation of the Office of the Bursar cash drawer.
  • Set up and revise automatic payment information.
  • Assist students with making payments through their CAMS portal.
  • Provide students with account statements.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
