About The Position

The Student Accounts Receivable Specialist II at Clackamas Community College is responsible for analyzing and enhancing the college's student account billing, collections, and accounts receivable processes. Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a related field AND 2-4 years of directly related work experience.
  • Knowledge of standard practices for accounts receivable processing and general ledger work.
  • Understanding of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and debt collection laws.
  • Ability to analyze student billing data and implement process improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with collection agency software programs.
  • Familiarity with federal Title IV regulations regarding financial aid refunds.

Responsibilities

  • Create, recommend, and implement processes regarding late fees, monthly statements, and past due accounts.
  • Assist the Bursar with the collection and reconciliation of current and former student accounts with balances due.
  • Negotiate solutions to resolve delinquent accounts or assign them to the collection system as needed.
  • Initiate and perform collection activities, including sending demand letters and statements to students.
  • Act as the primary college contact for collection agencies and monitor their activity monthly.
  • Maintain collection software and perform testing to ensure processes function as intended.
  • Manage and process third-party billing for internal and external clients, including preparing invoices.
  • Upload electronic accounts receivable statements for current and nontraditional students monthly.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding 1098T tax reports and correct student account records as needed.
  • Prepare reports on accounts receivable activities to enhance and improve services.
