ST Engineering Aerospace is located in Pensacola, FL, at the Pensacola International Airport. We are a renowned provider of aircraft maintenance and modification (AMM) services for commercial airlines and air freight operators. The Senior Crew Chief will be directly responsible to the Manager, Structures for the overall operation of the Structures Department. They will plan, direct, lay out and coordinate the activities of all departments within the station to minimize delays and increase production and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Airframe license and/or Repairman Certificate required
  • 5 years heavy commercial aircraft maintenance, including 2 years Structures crew chief, heavy maintenance work experience in the structures field required
  • Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained
  • Ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize work effectively; creatively; persuasively
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from all Service Bulletins, AD's, EO's, & EA's
  • Provide assigned task planning / scheduling & ensures that goals are met
  • Ability & willingness to assist, guide, oversee, train, evaluate & instruct others
  • Attentiveness / knowledge of aircraft schedules along with ability to develop alternate flow plan if required
  • Ability to communicate with internal groups (Planning, Materials, Fabrication, etc.) concerning aircraft issues
  • Ability to communicate with Customers, Engineers, etc. concerning work related to aircraft sheet metal tasks
  • Attentiveness & knowledge of assigned job budget as well as planned aircraft budget
  • Thorough knowledge of any & all sheet metal / structures tasks related to aircraft maintenance
  • Ability to provide task planning / scheduling & ensure required materials, etc. are on hand
  • Communication with Customers, Engineering, etc. concerning sheet metal work assigned to aircraft

Responsibilities

  • Ensure each individual assigned to perform maintenance under his/her team is qualified to work on the assigned customer program and is capable of performing the job properly. This involves assessing if the individual meets the operator’s required training and the individual’s job function against the employee’s specific skills and knowledge.
  • Supervise his/her subordinates in proper procedures, methods and practices to be followed in each respective duty.
  • Monitor the status of each aircraft / project in service on a daily basis.
  • Prepare daily priority work sheets in concurrence with his/her Manager.
  • Ascertain that all necessary work records are properly executed by the responsible mechanic.
  • Ensure that areas under his/her control are kept in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Be responsible for the proper handling of all parts while in repair process and the preservation of all units or parts during process through the shop / hangar and after work is completed.
  • Initiate requisitions for stock and materials required
  • Assign people according to priority programs
  • Make available the necessary overhaul manuals, service bulletins, airworthiness directives and any other required technical data.
  • Maintain all shop / hangar equipment and tools in a serviceable and working
