About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Structures & Payloads Design Engineer (Associate, Experienced and Expert) to join the Interiors and Payloads Design Engineering team located in Tukwila, Washington. Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design. Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Performs, integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals. Develops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort. Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.

Requirements

  • Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Experience in structural design process from conceptual layout phase through build to package release.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.
  • This is a 100% onsite role
  • This position offers relocation (basic for internals) based on eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of experience for experienced level
  • 9+ years of experience for expert level
  • Experience with FAA certification processes, including but not limited to Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) development and approval.
  • Experience working across a team representing multiple skill areas with internal and external resources and customers is preferred
  • Experience with implementation and maintenance of systems engineering tools, schedules and metrics (i.e. Earned value management, DOORs, CAMEO)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
