About The Position

The Structured Behavior Support Aide position will assist the Structured Behavior Support Teacher with meeting the behavioral and academic needs of students with disabilities. Requirements

48 hours of college coursework from an accredited college or university
Pass Spring Independent School District's NCLB test in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (Tests are administered after the recommendation for hire)
Must obtain Educational Aide Certification
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work with children with disabilities

Nice To Haves

One+ years experience working with children
Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university

Responsibilities

Assist teacher in collecting instructional and behavioral data.
Assist teacher in preparation of instructional materials and classroom displays
Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
Assist teacher in preparing/maintaining records/reports required by Federal, State or local laws/regulations
Assist students with physical disabilities according to their needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting or positioning.
Assist students with physical needs and personal care including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
Assist in the implementation of behavior plans.
Assist teacher with data collection, documenting student progress, and documenting services provided.
Assist teacher with intervening during crisis situations that may require restraint of students exhibit imminent danger to self or others.
Assist teacher in working with individual students or small groups to support acquisition and generalization of appropriate social and/or behavior skills.
Assist in supervision of students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom setting.
Inform teacher of special needs or problems of individual students
Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
