About The Position
Assist alternative education teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED and meet one of the following qualifications: 1. Associate’s Degree (or higher); or 2. Completion of 48 semester hours at an accredited institution of higher education; or 3. Obtained an academic assessment from a previous school district meeting a rigorous standard of quality
- Educational Aide II Certificate (or be willing to obtain)
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work well with special needs children
Nice To Haves
- One-year experience working with children preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist alternative education teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
- Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignment
- Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
- Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment
- Help alternative education teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the alternative education teacher
- Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned
- Assist in the classroom or other offices when needed
- Perform all other duties as assigned
