About The Position

Assist alternative education teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and meet one of the following qualifications: 1. Associate’s Degree (or higher); or 2. Completion of 48 semester hours at an accredited institution of higher education; or 3. Obtained an academic assessment from a previous school district meeting a rigorous standard of quality
  • Educational Aide II Certificate (or be willing to obtain)
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work well with special needs children

Nice To Haves

  • One-year experience working with children preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist alternative education teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
  • Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignment
  • Help maintain neat and orderly classroom
  • Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment
  • Help alternative education teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
  • Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the alternative education teacher
  • Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned
  • Assist in the classroom or other offices when needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
