Your Role As a Vice President in our Structural Practice, you’ll take on a leadership role where your vision, expertise, and strategic insight shape the firm’s most ambitious projects and initiatives. You will be recognized as a thought leader in structural engineering, guiding the technical direction of complex, high-profile projects while influencing firm-wide practices, innovation, and growth. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to major clients, mentor and inspire engineering teams, and contribute to business strategy and development across offices. This is a high-impact position for an engineer ready to leave a lasting mark on the industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) licensure.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering, including leadership on complex, high-profile building projects across steel, concrete, timber, seismic design, tall buildings, and specialty structures.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical vision on the firm’s most complex and high-profile projects, providing final decision-making authority and defining innovative, best-in-class structural solutions.
  • Serve as the primary client partner, cultivating long-term strategic relationships and acting as a trusted advisor at the senior-most level.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary teams, fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and leadership growth across the firm.
  • Drive business development and firm growth by leading proposals, pursuing new opportunities, and expanding Thornton Tomasetti’s influence in the market.
  • Shape firm strategy through thought leadership, advising senior leadership on emerging trends, new markets, and opportunities to expand services.
  • Establish and propagate best practices across the Structural Engineering practice, championing innovation, constructability, sustainability, and design excellence.
  • Oversee project financials, schedules, and quality, ensuring outcomes align with firm objectives and client expectations.
