Be our next Structural Intern - Bridges Your work environment at EXP EXP is currently seeking a Structural Intern for its Chicago office to work within the Infrastructure - Transportation business practice. The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of junior or senior engineers with a focus on transportation/structural related planning and design projects. The environment is fast-paced and growth oriented, ideally suited for individuals who like to take charge and are driven to gain experience working in a consulting engineering firm. Candidates can have interest in any number of civil engineering disciplines and work may be assigned as needed without regard for specialized areas of interest.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college civil engineering program
  • Experience with computer aided drafting and Microsoft Office products
  • Punctuality and maturity - ability to work with minimal direction
  • Ability to work outdoors for limited field assignments
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist with on-site inspections and limited field assignments;
  • Utilize CAD programs to assist in the preparation of plan drawings and details;
  • Perform rudimentary calculations under the direction of a licensed engineer;
  • Assist with preparation of technical specifications and reports;
  • Perform material quantity take-offs;
  • Organize design calculations
  • Assist project teams in meeting deadlines as needed.
