Requirements

Mechanically inclined with common hand tools (tape measure, power drills, levels, screwdrivers, etc.)
Basic math and geometry
1-2 years’ experience working in a manufacturing, commercial or industrial setting
Ability to work effectively with all personality types
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
Self-directed and can work independently
Valid Driver’s License

Rigging Requirements – Rigger 1 training (Preferred): Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials Utilize and understand the constraints of chains, synthetic, metal mesh, and wire rope slings Use & recognize rigging hardware including hooks, shackles, wire rope clips, clamps, eye bolts, softeners and tag lines â¯â¯ Identifies common load configurations & positioning
Lift Director Qualified (Preferred): Identify the various roles and responsibilities associated with directing a lift, planning a lift, and executing a lift.â¯ Discuss proper LHE operating practices as they are related to standard and critical load handling activities.â¯â¯ Explain the requirements for signaling and communication during load handling activities.â¯â¯ Review applicable manufacturer requirements, site requirements, Federal regulations, and applicable standards for rigging equipment.â¯â¯ Discuss the procedures for procuring material handling equipment.â¯â¯ Distinguish proper vs. improper crane and rigging practices.â¯â¯ Select appropriate rigging gear based upon capacity, compatibility, compliance, and load control.â¯ Discuss items to be considered before, during, and after a load handling activity.

Responsibilities

Support other apprentices, craftsman, and foreman on various projects
Follow instructions from foreman and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
Keep the job site clean and well-organized
Handle the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment
Ensure attention to detail and follow safety standards
Fuel and wash department vehicles
