About The Position
Structural Fitter Shipyard Repair Job Description: We are hiring experienced Structural Fitters to support ship repair projects in Mobile, AL. Candidates must have strong blueprint-reading skills and experience fitting and preparing structural components for welding in a shipyard environment.
Requirements
- 3+ years of shipyard structural fitting experience
- Knowledge of steel fabrication and ship repair standards
- Proficient with hand tools, torches, and grinders
- Ability to work onboard vessels, in confined spaces, and at heights
- Must pass a written and tack test
- U.S. citizenship
Responsibilities
- Fit, align, and install structural components onboard vessels
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Lay out and prepare steel using torches, grinders, and measuring tools
- Install foundations, bulkheads, stiffeners, brackets, and clips
- Tack, clamp, and assist welders with proper fit-up
- Perform structural repairs and modifications
- Follow all safety and shipyard procedures
