Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our team of transportation professionals servicing state and municipal clients in Maine, New Hampshire, and throughout New England. This position would be based out of the Portland, ME or Auburn, NH office, but you would be part of a larger New England transportation design group with offices in South Burlington, VT; Burlington & Boston, MA; and several other satellite offices. The New England structures group consists of about 30 bridge staff with varied experience and project backgrounds. The Stantec Transportation group provides services to both private and public sector clients. While you will be focusing on work in Maine and the Northeast, the successful candidate will also have opportunities to collaborate with our other teams across the United States and in Canada and support their project needs as opportunities arise. Requirements

  • Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, and/or VTrans design standards and practices.
  • Effective verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MicroStation, MathCAD, Inroads, & Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions to others
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications is desired.
  • Experience using bridge design and analysis software (Merlin-Dash, CSiBridge, STAAD, AASHTOware, LPile, Group, LEAP-steel/concrete, etc.) is desired.
  • Experience with bridge inspection and load rating is desired.
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bridge design and analysis.
  • Develop design plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Prepare, check, and deliver engineering calculations, reports, and technical studies.
  • Build a strong culture of quality design and teamwork.
  • Assist with occasional bridge inspection and load rating assignments.
  • Carry out constructability reviews during the design of conventionally procured projects.
