This position supports our Industry Market within the Building Structural Discipline , working on industrial, building, and facilities projects, as well as structural work across all Hanson markets. The role is based in Peoria, IL . A Day in the Life of a Structural Engineer at Hanson Here’s a snapshot of what you would do in this role: Support the structural needs of industrial sites and integrate structural design with civil, rail, and mechanical disciplines Perform complex engineering calculations and utilize structural design software for analysis and design Conduct structural analysis, prepare specifications, details, and construction plans Assist with site investigations, field reconnaissance, modeling, construction document preparation, contractor pricing assistance, and project close‑out documentation Mentor and assign duties to entry‑level staff Prepare and review calculations, quantity take-offs, and opinions of probable construction costs Other duties as assigned What We’re Looking For We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Revit (required)
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (required)
  • Experience with structural design software such as RISA (required)
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and stakeholders
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with internal and external clients
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems and learn new skills
  • Interest in a variety of assignments and continuous professional development
  • SE license or ability to obtain one (required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD (desirable)
  • Experience with MicroStation (a plus)
  • 5–15 years of structural engineering experience (desirable)
  • PE license (desirable)
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (desirable)
  • Ability to collaborate remotely with colleagues across offices
  • Willingness to accept periodic out‑of‑town travel assignments
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime to meet project deadlines
