About The Position

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. Our Miami, FL office is actively searching for an Engineer with a strong educational background in Structural Engineering and interest in waterfront/marine design. As the successful new hire, you will be eager to continue learning and deliver creative and technically challenging projects. You will perform planning, analysis and design for waterfront structures projects, including cruise and cargo ports, marine terminals, vessel mooring and berthing structures, bulkheads, marinas and shore protection structures. The ideal candidate will have structural analysis and modeling experience needed for a variety of projects and clients. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural coursework
  • 2 years of experience in structural engineering; or
  • PhD in Structural Engineering with a minimum of 6 months of design or related field activities; required. Experience in maritime is strongly preferred
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) is required with the ability to obtain a Florida Professional Engineer’s license within 12 months of hire
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
  • Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire

Responsibilities

  • Modeling, analysis, design, inspection and assessment structures for waterfront and other maritime projects
  • Structural analysis and design with timber, steel, aluminum, concrete and composite materials
  • Prestressed concrete analysis and design
  • Develop plans, specifications, calculations and inspection reports
  • Actively contribute to resolve design problems that may include research, performing field investigation or inspections, detailed design work, and thorough checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, scientists, project managers, etc. on multi-discipline projects
  • Review shop drawings and technical submittals for construction support services
  • Support internal and external communication and coordination necessary to effectively deliver tasks and projects
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
