About The Position

This is a hybrid role in Perrysburg, Ohio. Responsible for civil and structural engineering design for furnace rebuilds and related projects at glass container manufacturing facilities across North America. This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaborative working relationships and coordinate engineering support from third-party firms. The leader will address technical solutions and troubleshooting as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
  • Minimum 5 years of design experience in structural engineering
  • Design experience in structural engineering with a minimum fundamental academic understanding of structural analysis, gravity systems, lateral force resisting systems and how to generate wind and seismic forces.
  • Fundamental academic or working knowledge of the following: o Structural steel design, reinforced and unreinforced concrete design, load bearing and non-load bearing masonry design o Relevant building codes and structural standards/regulations throughout the United States o AutoCAD drawing creation and specifications o Structural analysis and design software such as RISA 3D, RISA Foundation and TEDDS
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Tools; AutoCAD; Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
  • English language – fluent & advanced
  • Project Management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Tools; AutoCAD; Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License or able to obtain P.E. licensure desired

Responsibilities

  • Broad and comprehensive knowledge of civil/structural engineering fundamentals and design principles including an extensive knowledge of design and drawing checking procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with current engineering codes and permitting requirements for safe and economical designs, considering unique glass manufacturing needs.
  • Design structural elements for glass container facilities, including but not limited to supports for furnaces, building modifications, equipment supports, site development, security, roadways, railways, and drainage.
  • Collaborates with engineers or project manager to assemble construction packages including written documents such as Scope of Work, cost estimates, specifications, reports, etc.
  • Lead, third party consulting engineering resources to complete projects according to the developed scope of work and deliverables.
  • Prepare calculations, drawings, and specifications for structural components.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination among engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Collaborates to obtain information and resolve design issues.
  • Revise and/or develop discipline specific standards, design guides and engineering procedures.
  • Visit O-I manufacturing facilities or vendors as needed for project related work.
