We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to oversee utility-scale and distributed generation solar project design. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and preparing construction deliverables (drawings, calculations) for solar power arrays. Project tasks include structural design of the solar tracker, foundation design, preparing structural construction drawings, coordinating with the project EORs, and construction administration. Effective communication and organization will be vital in the success of this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or structural engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years designing foundations, preferably driven steel piles.
  • Strong knowledge of ASCE 7 and AISC.
  • Experience in structural analysis and design, including dead, live, snow, wind, and seismic loads, design of steel structures, and development of construction documents.
  • Ability to understand geotechnical principles (soil layers, L-Pile parameters, frost heave).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and L-Pile.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management skills, including task prioritization, and resource management.

Nice To Haves

  • Geotechnical engineering experience is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in any State.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural engineering efforts for multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and efficient delivery to customers.
  • Design tracker foundations using software such as L-Pile.
  • Review geotechnical reports to determine soil-structure design parameters for foundation design.
  • Review geotechnical reports and communicate to the customer any challenges or recommendations for foundation design.
  • Coordinate and manage project construction drawings deliverables with EOR.
  • Attend project meetings with Sales and customers to answer questions and provide updates.
  • Provide construction administration support for ongoing projects, including RFIs and submittals.
  • Collaborate with other project engineers at Nevados in the project design process.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
