Summary: The Structural Designer is responsible for designing and developing materials and packaging systems that protect and present products in a safe, functional, and visually appealing manner. This role evaluates existing packaging structures, develops and tests prototypes, and ensures all designs meet legal, safety, production, and customer requirements. The Structural Designer works closely with sales, production, estimating, die makers, and die cutting personnel to deliver innovative, cost-effective structural solutions that align with customer expectations and manufacturing capabilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop structural solutions that meet customer specifications, performance requirements, and budget parameters. Create and test prototypes to validate functionality, durability, and manufacturability. Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and customer guidelines. Collaborate with sales, marketing, and customer service teams by providing technical expertise during client discussions and proposals. Partner with production, estimating, and die cutting teams to ensure designs are production-ready and cost-efficient. Identify opportunities to improve packaging performance, sustainability, and cost effectiveness. Research new materials, substrates, and structural technologies to drive innovation. Support ship test standards and assist in validating packaging performance. Foster strong cross-functional communication to ensure seamless project execution.
