About The Position

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Structural Analyst in Mechanical Engineering to join our creative team of engineers. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control’s highly innovative and ingenious solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry. This specific position is related to stress and dynamic analysis for structures on our sensor systems. The position will include research, model creation, analysis, evaluation, and testing in support of existing and development of aerospace products and technologies. The structural engineer will work with the Sensors and Global Sustainment Line of Business providing technical insight for development, test, and manufacturing of mechanical structures and assemblies. The Structural Engineering role will also include the following responsibilities related to development of product specifications and statements of requirements: coordinate performance predictions and interfaces with the Mechanical Design IPT, develop test plans, support supplier and system level testing, and present status at informal internal meetings as well as formal program meetings with LM and the customer. Tasks also include: coordination with product design, interface development, coordination with other analysis group engineers, Materials, Production Operations, and other departments. The engineer will also be involved in the maintenance and release of engineering drawings and documents. PLM is used for drawing release. The position requires strong technical skills in a fast paced environment.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent accredited degree program).
  • Strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of mechanical design of structure.
  • Ability to obtain DoD Clearance must be US citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Foundational knowledge of Finite Element Analysis and tool packages such as ANSA, SimCenter, ANSYS, COMSOL, ABAQUS, etc.
  • Desire to work in the analysis arena to include stress and dynamics while interacting with design, thermodynamics and/or electrical engineering.
  • Projects focussing on areas including: Advanced Structural integrity/analysis, Stress‑Strain, Elasticity, Plasticity, Beam Theory, Frame Analysis, etc.
  • Strong test planning, communication, and execution skills.
