About The Position

This job will require operating the Cominco Strip Casting operation. Utility personnel must be willing to work and learn any and all machine operations, if assigned. Utility personnel are required to train and become licensed in the operation of material handling equipment. Requirements

  • Repetitive lifting from grams up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous standing, walking, and bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching, for 12 hr. shifts. Repetitious work.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, respirator, safety glasses, metatarsal guard shoes, etc., as required in established policy.
  • Will be exposed to extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid).
  • Small hand tools, control panels, hoists, data collection and material measuring equipment, material handling equipment, and acetylene torch.
  • Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Previous Manufacturing or Related Experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Equipment Used: Small hand tools, hoists, computer, material handling equipment and numerous machines.

Responsibilities

  • Employee will be required to perform occasional heavy lifting.
  • Work individually in an area containing electrical powered machinery, lead melting pots, rollers, belts, molten lead, computers, and ventilation equipment.
  • Will produce an average of 85,000 pounds of strip (4 lines of strip) per 12-hour shift.
  • Will be exposed to lead (dust, fumes, and molten form) and other hazards.
  • Comply with Safety and Health regulations for the protection of self and fellow workers. Required to shower and shampoo at the end of each work shift.
  • Must learn and follow Quality Control specifications and maintain accurate and timely SPC charts.
  • Must satisfy all requirements as written in company policy.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Comply with current Quality Systems requirements.
  • Hazardous waste training shall be provided to the employee within six months of the date the employee filled this position and a review of this training provided every 12 months thereafter. The employee will complete a program of classroom instruction. The employee shall be supervised until training is completed. The training shall consist of a review of proper management of hazardous waste, satellite accumulation containers, how to review and prepare a hazardous waste manifest, and proper labeling requirements.
  • Perform other work as assigned by Management including 5S cleaning
