A Brief Overview The Striker / Stocker has the opportunity to learn the building materials business and our branch operation by supporting drivers with deliveries, working in the warehouse, and receiving, loading and unloading material in the yard and delivery site.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required.
  • 1-3 years as striker, roof loader, or stocker required.
  • 1-3 years of warehouse experience required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast pace, ever changing environment.
  • Ability to work in heights ranging from ground level to elevation.
  • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
  • Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions and complete forms.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
  • Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).
  • Forklift Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established safety rules and regulations and follow all safety procedures; maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Pull, stage, and load orders onto outgoing trucks and at customer site as directed.
  • Aid Driver in inspecting materials scheduled for delivery to confirm that the shipment is correct and that it is properly loaded and secured.
  • Ride with the driver to the job site to unload product at jobsite.
  • Assist driver in evaluating delivery site, noting potential hazards, obstacles, physical challenges, etc.; guide driver in maneuvering onto and off customer’s property to avoid damage as needed.
  • Handle materials off conveyor and stack material as directed.
  • Support driver in maintaining a clean and safe vehicle.
  • Assist warehouse associates and direct supervisor in maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Receive in-coming products, commodities and materials; stock all material received in appropriate bins or storage locations.
  • Operate forklift with foot and hand controls in a safe manner to complete orders onto delivery equipment.
  • Treat customers, contractors, and associates in a courteous, considerate, and cooperative manner.
  • Retain an awareness of the work environment critical to the task at hand to produce error free and damage free results.
  • Participate in a positive work environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Participate in and complete assigned trainings.
  • Comply with all company policies and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
